Ataköy Marina and Galleria: A Day from Bakirkoy

On the seafront side of Ataköy you can walk around the marina, take a shopping or food break at Galleria shopping mall, and finish the day in central Bakırköy. • Ataköy Marina: The marina where boats are moored and its surroundings are one of the focal points of a seafront walk. There are places to eat and drink nearby.
• The waterfront: Ataköy's shoreline is a popular spot for walking and sitting down to rest.
• Galleria shopping mall: The shopping centre in Ataköy; easy to add to the day for shops and a food break.

Sinan Erdem Dome is also in the same area; if you are going to an event, spending the first half of the day on the seafront can work well. Allow for event traffic.

How do I get there?

Half-day plan

1. In the afternoon, go to Ataköy by Marmaray or taxi.
2. Walk along the waterfront around the marina.
3. Take a short shopping or coffee break at Galleria.
4. Return to Bakırköy for dinner. There are many restaurants and cafés around Bakırköy Freedom Square (Özgürlük Meydanı) and İstanbul Caddesi; the square is a 6-minute walk from the address.

Full-day plan

1. Morning: Walk on Bakırköy seafront. Bakırköy seafront and İDO ferry pier are a 14-minute walk from the address; Bakırköy seafront is a long shoreline with a walking and cycling path.
2. Midday: Cross to Ataköy by taxi or Marmaray.
3. Afternoon: Walk around the marina and waterfront, then Galleria.
4. Evening: Dinner in central Bakırköy and a short stroll along İstanbul Caddesi.

On a rainy or cold day

If the weather is not suitable for a seafront walk, shift the day indoors. Galleria shopping mall is in Ataköy, while Capacity shopping mall is a 9-minute walk from our address. On a day like this, taking a taxi to Ataköy and spending time at Galleria, then returning to eat in the Bakırköy market area, is a practical plan. If you use Marmaray, allow for the walk from the station.

Finishing the evening in Bakırköy

On the way back from Ataköy, the area around Bakırköy Freedom Square (Özgürlük Meydanı) makes a good evening stop. The square is surrounded by a market area, cafés and restaurants; İstanbul Caddesi is a pedestrian shopping street. The square is a 6-minute walk from the address, so you can walk back to your apartment after dinner.

If you are travelling with children

Keep walking distances short with children, and take a taxi back when they start to tire. Avoiding busy hours on Marmaray makes the outing easier. For families of 4–5, the Two-bedroom apartment (2+1) has two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen; back in the evening you can prepare a light meal just as you would at home. The building has a lift, so returning with a stroller is easy.

• Parking: At weekends, parking around the seafront and the mall can become harder; consider Marmaray instead of driving.
• Card: Istanbulkart is valid on Marmaray, metro, Metrobus and buses.
• Train times: Check train times against the current timetable; find out the last train in advance for your evening return.
• Clothing: It can feel cooler by the water than in the city centre; take a light layer.
• Pharmacy: You can find the on-duty pharmacy on the Istanbul Chamber of Pharmacists website or via e-Devlet; in an emergency call 112.
