How to Get from Bakirkoy to Ataköy Marina

From our address in Zeytinlik, Bakırköy, Ataköy Marina is about 10–15 minutes away by car; the distance is roughly 4 kilometres. If you prefer public transport, take the Marmaray from Marmaray Bakırköy station toward Halkalı, get off one stop later at Ataköy and walk to the marina.

Which option suits you depends on the time you travel, what you are carrying and when you plan to come back. Below we explain both routes step by step and compare them side by side.

Comparing the two routes

Going by car or taxi

When traffic is moving, you reach the marina in 10–15 minutes. Roads toward the coast can get busy during the evening rush and on weekend afternoons; at those times, it is wise to add a few minutes to the journey.

• Istanbul taxis run on a taximeter; the meter sets the fare.
• If you are driving yourself, check parking options around the marina on the map before you set off. Spaces can be harder to find on event days and at weekends.
• If you plan to call a taxi for the return, choose a spot where the car can stop safely and give your location clearly.

Taking the Marmaray: step by step

1. Walk from the address to Marmaray Bakırköy station; about 600 metres, 8 minutes.
2. Have your Istanbulkart ready. The card works on the Marmaray as well as on the metro, Metrobus, tram, ferry and bus.
3. Follow the signs to the platform for Halkalı.
4. Get on the train; the first stop after Bakırköy is Ataköy.
5. Get off at Ataköy and walk to the marina. We recommend opening the walking route on the map on your phone.

Timetables and frequencies can change from season to season. Before you set off, check the latest service information from TCDD Taşımacılık / Marmaray sources. If you are returning late, finding out the last train time in advance saves you waiting at the station for nothing.

Which option when?

• Morning and evening rush: The Marmaray is not affected by traffic, so journey times are more predictable.
• If you have luggage, a stroller or a large bag: A car is more comfortable; the station and the walk can be tiring.
• If you are a group of three or four: One taxi saves the group the walk to the station and gets everyone there together.
• If you are returning late at night: Check the latest service information; if the last train has gone, a taxi is the practical option.
• If you are not in a hurry and the weather is good: Going by Marmaray is a calm route; you can treat the walk as part of the outing.

Combining a marina visit with Bakırköy

After spending time at the marina, it is easy to return to central Bakırköy for dinner. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés around Bakırköy Freedom Square (Özgürlük Meydanı) and İstanbul Caddesi; the square is about a 6-minute walk from the address. Returning from the marina

Thinking about the return before you set out means you will not be rushing at the end of the evening.

• Returning by Marmaray: At Ataköy station, take the train toward Gebze; the first stop is Bakırköy. The walk from the station to the address takes about 8 minutes.
• Returning by taxi: Give the driver the address: Zeytinlik Mahallesi, Fazılpaşa Sokak No:4, Bakırköy. If traffic is moving, the journey again takes 10–15 minutes.

What to know while staying

Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is until 11:00. If you are going to the marina early in the morning or coming back late, tell us when you book; early check-in and late check-out depend on availability.
